The sixth annual Spelthorne Business Plan Competition final was held on 6th June at BP’s headquarters in Sunbury-on-Thames.
Six finalists pitched in a Dragons’ Den style final for a chance to win £3,500 and a year’s package of business support to help them get their business started.
The standard of each pitch was extremely high and after much deliberation first place was awarded to Dawn Grealey and Allison Moody for their idea Ella Wood – Perfectly natural an idea to create beautiful had crafted natural soaps with no chemicals.
Second place and a prize of £1,500 went to Justin Thomas with his idea “Cooking Behind Bars” which is a motivational cook book to help offenders while in prison to be healthy and motivated to try and reduce re offending.
Third place and a prize of £500 was awarded to Natalie & Martin Watson, Charlotte Brown and Louise Duffy with their idea Happy Planet Party Picnics a healthy and eco friendly party bag solution for children.
The winners’ prizes were presented by Kwasi Kwarteng MP.
Everyone who entered will also receive a “Start Your Business in Spelthorne” book which has been a collaboration with Spelthorne Borough Council, Spelthorne Business Forum and The Spelthorne Business Plan Competition.

We are very fortunate to have so many talented people with great business ideas in our borough. The atmosphere at the competition was so positive and up-lifting, the presentations were excellent. Well done to all who entered and we are really looking forward to seeing the progress of all of these new ventures.
