Brexit Update – 16th April

Here are the latest Brexit updates and developments from Bloomberg

• The new UK Trade and Business Commission, which will assess the impact of the Brexit trade deal and suggest improvements, held its first evidence session on 15th April, hearing warnings that more small businesses will be adversely affected due to new customs and administration costs.

• Northern Ireland is still a key concern, with David Frost meeting Maros Sefcovic to consider the implementation of the NI Protocol. With recent scenes of rioting and violence against police, the EU has delayed its legal
action against the U.K., and technical discussions are ongoing.

• Bloomberg also has a special series marking 100 days of Brexit: they’ve reviewed how the `Project Fear’ predictions played
out, shown the toll on businesses and noted an uptick in anti-EU sentiment following their underwhelming vaccine rollout.
