One Year On – Myths, Risks and Opportunities

As the year end approaches join us at this Growth Hub Special Briefing focusing on Artificial Intelligence, presented by the University of Surrey, regional law practice DMH Stallard and accountancy firm Menzies.

The session is suitable for business leaders of any sized business and at any stage of their development.

Our briefing will aim to inform on progress seen so far with Artificial Intelligence and debate what may happen next.

Our special guest at this early evening briefing, to be held on campus at the University of Surrey, is Andrew Rogoyski, Director of Innovation and Partnership – Surrey Institute of People Centred AI.

The University of Surrey’s new research institute focuses on developing and deploying AI solutions that assist, augment, and protect human beings, in areas as diverse as healthcare, education, entertainment, ethics, law and fundamental science, putting people at the heart of AI.

Andrew, with fellow speakers and panelists, will both guide us through why Artificial Intelligence has created so much attention during 2023, and provide their insights on what they expect to happen next.

The session aims to simplify issues, avoid tech jargon and where necessary bust those myths often circulating in the media.

Questions we will cover:

  • What is AI? How does this differ from other new technologies?
  • Is adoption of AI in every business a matter of when rather than if?
  • We will look at the risk and rewards for both early adopters and those with a strategy to watch and wait.
  • Our session will include insights on policy and process, plus whether regulation is able to keep up with developments. Is AI the new ‘wild west’ and almost ungovernable?

Attendees will leave this session better informed on developments with Artificial Intelligence and as a result more equipped to map out a plan for their businesses across 2024 and beyond.

This will also be an opportunity for business leaders to ask questions of experts and meet fellow regional business leaders over drinks and canapés.
