We would like to invite you to a lunchtime meeting to present the strategy to you and invite your feedback and comments.
We have built on the extensive research that was undertaken to produce the original LEA in 2013 https://www.spelthorne.gov.uk/econstrat and taken on board your comments and views from the 7th July meeting to produce this draft document which will come into effect from February 2017.
The LEA is intended to ensure that Spelthorne Borough Council has a strong and robust understanding of the socio-economic characteristics of the local economy. Given the ever evolving economic climate, and the LEA can provide a sound platform for us as local authority to develop a comprehensive plan for economic development and growth within Spelthorne.
The study also seeks to understand the wider functional economic area with, a specific focus on the rest of Surrey and neighbouring boroughs in London and Berkshire.
The findings of the LEA have been used to produce the draft strategy for 2017-22, however in order for us to have the most rounded understanding of the issues facing business and the effectiveness of our strategy we would like to invite you to have your say.
Therefore Spelthorne’s Chief Executive Roberto Tambini along with other key councillor officers and councillors, will be hosting a local stakeholders working lunch on Friday 13th January; this will provide an opportunity for local businesses to give views and opinions to influence and shape the content of the economic strategy and the actions identified therein. This strategy will then provide the template for the Council to help promote jobs and growth, as well as the vital regeneration needed over the next 5 years.
The working lunch will bring together a network of both large and small businesses, local business groups/chambers of commerce, education providers and public bodies for a range of short presentations followed by a roundtable discussion and an opportunity to air your views.
The proposed format for this meeting is as follows:
12.00 -12:30 Lunch
12.30 – 1.30 Presentation giving a summary of the new draft Economic Strategy.
1.30 – 2.00 Q& A / feedback
If you would like to attend this meeting, please RSVP to myself and cc s.ridley@spelthorne.gov.uk.
