BIOGRAPHY FOR SIR PETER BONFIELD CBE, FREng

Sir Peter Bonfield CBE, FREng
Chairman NXP Semiconductors
Sir Peter Bonfield has more than 50 years of experience in the international technology
business. He is Chairman of Netherlands-based NXP, the world’s fifth largest
semiconductor company and Chairman of software group GobalLogic, based in Silicon
Valley. He is a director and Chair of Audit at TSMC in Taiwan.
His prior positions include CEO of BT Group, Chairman and CEO of ICL plc and Deputy
CEO of STC plc, and he has served on the boards of 12 international technology
companies including Sony and Ericsson. He is a member of The Longreach Group
Advisory Board, Senior Advisor to G3 Good Governance Group, Senior Advisor to Alix
Partners, and on the UK and US boards of the EastWestInstitute.
Sir Peter is an elected Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering and Chairman of
Council, Loughborough University. Knighted in 1996 and awarded the CBE in 1989, he
has received honorary doctorates from 11 universities. Voted one of the top 25 managers
of 1996 by Businessweek and awarded the prestigious Order of the Lion of Finland in
1995, he is also an honorary citizen of Dallas, Texas.
