What is the BFI Film Academy?

The BFI Film Academy course covers every area of the filmmaking process, enabling young people aged 16-19 to gain an NCFE qualification in Working in the Film Industry. As well as developing their commercial and cultural knowledge and skills needed to help make a career in film a reality. After completing the course, young people will have the chance to gain support and progress onto a range of ongoing filmmaking opportunities.

The course is run at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios and there is a nominal charge of £25 – HOWEVER we offer full bursaries (free places) and travel support to anyone who is eligible for free school meals. Each place is worth in excess of £2000 and the programme is run inside each of the studios.

We would be happy to run free taster workshops, set up stands, pop by and meet individuals and/or receive direct referrals for any young people AGED 16-19, remotely interest in film, art, acting, photography, music, business, sound tech, writing etc.

The dates the course will be running are:
– Shepperton Studios – Every Day, 22nd to 26th October 2018 (October Half Term)
– Pinewood Studios –  Saturdays, 5th January to 9th February 2019
