We are raising money for The Woking and Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care by participating in their annual Dragon Boat Race. Last year we managed to raise £3800.00.
Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care is a patient-led charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to people who have advanced life-limiting illnesses living in Northwest Surrey. Each year they care for thousands of patients, their careers, and families. Over 80% of their care is provided out in the community in patients homes, alongside the care provided at our Hospice in Woking.
The Dragon Boat Race last year was a resounding success with several teams entering. The event will consist of a few rules, these being:
- Your Dragon Boat Team will need a minimum of 12 rowers.
- A Dragon Boat holds 16 Rowers and a drummer.
- Each Team will have a minimum of three races, before moving to the finals
- £35 per participant plus sponsorship for the Team
- We love to see the teams in fancy dress.
- The races take place on Goldsworth Park Lake, Woking
- Bring your friends, family, and colleagues along to cheer you on the day.
The event also has free entrance with the following amenities:
- BBQ
- Churro’s & crepes
- Noodle bar
- Pimm’s Tent
- Hook-a-duck
- Coconut Shy
- Sweet cones
- Ice cream van
- Guess the name of the teddy!
- Giant board games
- Tombola
- Craft stall
- Refreshment stands and homemade cakes.
- Plant stall
- Chinese Association with performances from the dancing lions
