Have Your Say on the Future of Your Area

The Local Plan Scoping Consultation is now open — giving residents, businesses and community organisations the opportunity to help shape how the borough develops over the coming years.

Why Your Voice Matters

Spelthorne Borough Council is preparing a new Local Plan, the key planning document that will guide future housing, employment, transport, infrastructure, green spaces and community facilities across the borough. Before policies are developed, the Council is inviting residents, businesses and community organisations to identify the priorities and challenges that should shape the new Plan.

What is the Local Plan?

The Local Plan will guide development across Spelthorne for the coming years and will become the primary planning document used when determining planning applications. At this stage, no decisions have been made about specific development sites. Instead, the Council is gathering early views on what matters most to local communities.

What is the Scoping Consultation?

The Scoping Consultation is the first stage of preparing the new Local Plan. It focuses on identifying strategic priorities, engagement methods and key planning issues before policies are drafted.

The Council Wants Your Views On:

  • Strategic issues the new Local Plan should address
  • Which organisations and stakeholders should be consulted
  • How the Council should engage with residents and businesses
  • The best methods for future consultation and public engagement

How to Get Involved

Residents, businesses and community groups can:

  • Read the Scoping Statement
  • Complete the online consultation survey
  • Share comments on specific locations using the Interactive Map

This is an opportunity for local communities to influence the future of housing, infrastructure, employment, transport, environmental protection and public spaces across Spelthorne.
