On 6th February we are partnering with Surrey and Sussex Police to deliver a FREE Scam Awareness webinar with a live British Sign Language interpreter and subtitles.
Our strong motivation to reinforce how individuals can safeguard themselves and others from crime and exploitation is high on our agenda, as such, I was hoping you might agree to promote our accessible and inclusive scam webinar.
One of our Trading Standards Officers will be talking about general scam prevention and our guest speaker from Surrey and Sussex Police will highlight the dangers of romance fraud.
Online dating is by far the most popular way to meet someone, and January/February is the busiest time of year for both new and experienced users. However, this means that it’s also a very busy time for cybercriminals, posing as suitors to steal your money or identity … or both.
Being scammed can be a harrowing experience that can have a long-lasting impact on wellbeing. Many romance scams never get reported because of the victim’s embarrassment but it is important to remember that these scammers target a number of people and have been doing it for years.
Details: Free webinar on Tuesday 6 February at 10am, focusing on how to spot and stop a scam, including essential information on how to stay safe when online dating.
This is free for anyone to attend regardless of where they live.
