Spelthorne Council Economic Development Team have launched two new initiatives aimed at helping local businesses overcome the challenges they are facing and grow their business.

As part of the strategy to support local businesses through the challenges faced with the Covid Pandemic, Spelthorne Council Economic Development team have been utilising the business grant funding in a number of ways.

Initially through 2020 and 2021 the fund has been used in a series of Discretionary Grants aimed at survival. These grants have been paid paid directly to businesses to help cover losses and fixed costs so that they can survive the downturn in trade that the pandemic has caused.

In November 2021 a Equipment Purchase grant was launched which was aimed at helping cover up to 90% of the cost of new equipment which would help businesses become more resilient and increase their ability to generate business.

A consultation was also undertaken with local businesses to ask for feedback on how else they could be supported and the feedback given has now been addressed with two new initiatives;
