Help Shape the Future of Spelthorne’s Green and Blue Spaces
Spelthorne Borough Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups, visitors and other stakeholders to have their say on the future of the borough’s parks, green spaces, waterways and other important natural areas.
The public consultation on the Council’s emerging Green Infrastructure Strategy is now open and runs until 11.59pm on Monday 21 September 2026.
The strategy will provide a long-term plan for how Spelthorne’s green and blue spaces are protected, enhanced and expanded as the borough continues to grow.
What Does Green Infrastructure Include?
Green and blue infrastructure covers many of the places and routes that contribute to the environment and quality of life across Spelthorne, including:
- Parks and other green spaces
- Rivers and reservoirs
- Woodlands and nature reserves
- Allotments
- Playing fields
- Walking and cycling routes
These spaces play an important role in supporting health and wellbeing, biodiversity, climate resilience, flood risk management, air quality and the overall attractiveness of the borough.
Why Does Your Feedback Matter?
The Council wants to understand what matters most to people who live, work, visit and do business in Spelthorne.
Feedback from the consultation will help shape the Green Infrastructure Strategy, ensuring that it reflects local priorities while supporting climate change and nature recovery goals.
What Is the Consultation Asking?
Participants are being asked to:
- Identify parks, green spaces, waterways and routes they use and value
- Highlight barriers or problems affecting their enjoyment of these spaces
- Suggest locations where green and blue infrastructure could be improved or created
- Share their priorities for the future Green Infrastructure Strategy
An interactive map is also available, allowing participants to highlight particular places and routes that are important to them.
Businesses Are Encouraged to Have Their Say
This consultation is not just for residents. Local businesses and other organisations are also encouraged to participate and share their experience of Spelthorne’s green and blue spaces.
For businesses, the quality of the local environment can contribute to the attractiveness of Spelthorne as a place to work, invest and do business, as well as supporting employees, customers and the wider community.
