The Council has received information that families residing at the Stanwell Hotel were notified they were being moved to a different location outside of Spelthorne Borough.
On receipt of this information an urgent letter was yesterday sent to the Home Office seeking clarification and challenging this decision. Following the recent Government reshuffle the Council also asked the new Minister to provide answers to the questions the Council had previously raised with the former Minister which remain unanswered. As previously reported on 4 September, the Council received an initial response from the Home Office. The Council’s request for permission to share the response from the Home Office remains without a reply. In light of the changes taking place at the Stanwell Hotel it is clear that the Council’s submissions have not been listened to and our detailed questions remain unanswered. Meanwhile the Council is continuing to explore all legal and planning options open to it and liaising with other local authorities.
