If climate and nature aren’t written into law, they’ll fall off the agenda.

As new local authorities are being formed in Surrey, we have a unique opportunity to make a change. Right now, there’s a real chance to make climate and nature protection a legal requirement, not just a nice-to-have.

More voices are needed to push for this vital change. Please encourage residents in your communities to sign this petition calling for climate and nature to be statutory duties in the new Surrey councils.

If you haven’t already, take a moment to send a letter to your MP. The letter urges them to raise this issue in Parliament—by speaking or submitting a question—and highlight the importance of embedding climate and nature in local governance.

Together, we can ensure Surrey’s future is greener, fairer, and more resilient.
