Businesses Back Visit Staines BID for Another Five Years
Businesses in Staines-upon-Thames have voted to renew the Visit Staines Business Improvement District (BID) for a further five-year term, from 2027 to 2032.
The renewal ballot received strong support, with 81% of voting businesses in favour and 85% support by rateable value. The result secures the continuation of initiatives aimed at supporting local businesses and improving the town centre.
Supporting Around 300 Local Businesses
The award-winning Visit Staines BID represents approximately 300 businesses across Staines-upon-Thames town centre.
Its work includes:
- BID Rangers and partnerships supporting crime prevention
- Town centre events, promotions and marketing
- Seasonal decorations, planting and environmental improvements
- Initiatives to make the town centre more welcoming for businesses, residents and visitors
The successful ballot enables Visit Staines to build on these activities and deliver its new five-year business plan.
Positive Outlook for the Town Centre
Cllr Howard Williams, Chair of Spelthorne Borough Council’s Business, Infrastructure and Growth Committee, welcomed the result and recognised the BID’s contribution to bringing businesses together and improving the town centre.
Joana Santos, BID Manager, thanked participating businesses for their continued support and highlighted the opportunity to develop existing services and introduce the priorities set out in the new business plan.
The renewal also provides an example of how Business Improvement Districts can support town centres, as Ashford prepares for its own BID ballot.
